Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt - Most Influential Celebrities in TIME's 100

Time magazine has come out with its 2008 list of the world’s 100 most influential people. Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie top the list of celebrities, although they were listed within "Heroes and Pioneers" for their charity work and campaigning at No. 21.
The top ten are: 1. Dalai Lama 2. Vladimir Putin 3. Barack Obama 4. Hillary Clinton 5. John McCain 6. Hu Jintao 7. George W. Bush 8. Jacob Zuma 9. Anwar Ibrahim 10. Kevin Rudd.
Others celebrities include: Oprah Winfrey came in at 22, Mia Farrow at 24, Lorne Michaels at 58, Miley Cyrus at 59 and Robert Downey Jr. at 60.

David Blaine Set World Record on Oprah Winfrey Show

Magician David Blaine set a new world record for holding his breath underwater for 17 minutes and 4 seconds today in Chicago on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

“A lifelong dream,” a glad David Blaine, 35, told Oprah moments after setting the record in a water-filled sphere. “I can’t believe that I did that.”

Blaine, clad in a silver wet suit, entered an acrylic sphere filled with 1,800 gallons of water and spent the first 23 minutes inhaling pure oxygen, packing his lungs with extra oxygen just before the breathing tubes were removed.
Blaine said he reached a meditative state while submerged, with help from the stage lights reflecting off the sphere. But hearing his heartbeat left him more conscious, he said, adding "I was pretty much here the whole time."

Blaine also said he was aware that his heart was beating irregularly toward the end of the stunt.
Less than two years ago, Blaine went into convulsions during a similar attempt. The previous record was 16 minutes and 32 secondsset set earlier this year in Switzerland by Peter Colat.

"There's no enhancement, no cheating," he told Winfrey, adding that while he makes his living as a magician, the stunts he does are not about magic but about pushing the limits of the human body.

Magician David Blaine on Wednesday, 30 April, will try to break the world record for breath- holding during a live broadcast of "The Oprah Winfrey Show," less than two years after going into convulsions during a similar attempt.

David Blaine plans to breathe pure oxygen for about 20 minutes before entering a water-filled sphere.
The time he has to beat is 16 minutes and 32 seconds, a record set Feb. 10 by Switzerland's Peter Colat, according to Guinness World Records.

David Blaine once spent 44 days suspended from a glass box by the River Thames in London. He was also buried alive for a week in a see-through coffin in New York.
