Tony Leung Blessed with Carina Lau & Mom

Carina Lau had dinner with hubby Tony Leung and her mother-in-law at "Amigo" restaurant on 1 November in Hong Kong. It was a rare sight as the paparazzi captured Carina and her mother-in-law in good talking terms. It was a contrary to media reports that Tony Leung's mother was displeased with Carina Lau for not trying hard to bore the Leung family a son.They had dinner for two hours till about 11pm before Tony Leung foot the bill and went home with Carina Lau.

Tony Leung and Takeshi Kaneshiro, who are both in Japan to promote their movie "Red Cliff' at the Tokyo Film Festival, took time to attend Japanese heart-throb, Takuya Kimura's show "Smap x Smap" yesterday.They attended the "Bistro Smap" section of Takuya's show in which both get a chance to taste his cooking skills.

Tony Leung had known Takuya Kimura during filming the movie "2046".

Stars of "Red Cliff", the movie by Hong Kong director, John Woo, walked the red carpet (or rather green carpet there) in the opening of the 21st Tokyo Film Festival on 18 October. The Japanese film festival will run from 18 October till 26 October.

Hong Kong actor, Tony Leung flew to Tokyo yesterday for Tokyo Film Festival to promote his new movie "Red Cliff" directed by Hong Kong director, John Woo. He will also attend Japanese hearthrob, Takuya Kimura's show "SmapxSmap".Tony Leung also brushed aside gossips that his wife, Carina Lau, went to pray at the temple for a son,"There's such gossips almost every day, no comment from me." But he admitted that the finanancial tsunami that hit various world economy had hurt his pockets,"I'm definitely affected, economy recession affects everyone, hope it'll recover soon."

Interestingly, he bumped into Taiwanese idol, Wu Chun, and his fans, while checking-in the airport, and he teased the reporters,"Who has more fans?".

Carina Lau is in the latest issue of Hong Kong premier magazine "Style Lady". During the interview, she stressed that her beau of 20 years, Tony Leung, whom she'll marry at the end of this year, is very important to her even with the stream of rumours about her with other men all these years. Below is an excerpt of the interview.On marriage:"I hope to get married and really wish to put on the wedding gown, but I have witnessed too many broken relationships and the wedding ceremony, to me, is just a formality. Based on my (profound) relationship with Tony, it doesn't really matter whether we are married. Nevertheless, our years of relationship do not come easy, so I value the importance of this (wedding) ceremony."

On Tony Leung:"I'm very lucky to have him by my side all these years especially I have experienced more lows than highs.....there's somebody who admires, supports and gives you confidence....sometimes, after an awards ceremony, I'll tell him that I've lost again and asked him why didn't I get the award even after working so hard. He'll console me by saying that luck is not on my side yet....His voice is very important to me."

On her regrets:"My dad passed away without witnessing my wedding ceremony, that's what I could not compensate in any way; now that my mom is still alive, I hope I will not live with another regret in my life again.'"

Lin ChiLing, Song Hye Kyo, Vicki Zhao in Cannes Film Festival

The asian beauties and actresses, Taiwan Lin ChiLing, Korean Song Hye Kyo and China Vicki Zhao gathered at "Taiwan Night" Dinner Gala in Cannes Film Festival. Model Lin ChiLing and Vicki Zhao are both promoting John Woo's new movie "Red Cliff" and Song Hye Kyo is apparently starring in John Woo's next movie "1949".
Song Hye Kyo and Vicki Zhao clicked so well during the dinner that they both continued to chat in Song Hye Kyo's room after dinner end at 12 midnight. They were also spotted holding hands walking along the beach before that. Vicki Zhao joked,"It's love at first sight".
Tony Leung, Carina Lau, Chang Chen also attended the "Red Cliff" premiere and the "Taiwan Night" Gala dinner.

No Marriage Date News for Carina Lau & Tony Leung in Cannes

Carina Lau and Tony Leung did not announce their wedding date as rumoured in Cannes Film Festival this week. Tony Leung was walking the red carpet in Cannes for the movie "Red Cliff" by director John Woo ("Face Off" fame) and Carina had tagged along.
Tony Leung said,"We are here for work....announcing wedding date? do you think we are filming?.....besides we are all concerned about the (China Sichuan) quake, it's not a good time and place to announce any wedding date." He also dispelled rumours about Carina's attempts to get pregnant by getting him to drink specially brewed soup,"I don't drink soup...what to do?".

Tony Leung in New Movie "Red Cliff"

Tony Leung starred as a legendary strategist, Zhou Yu, in "Red Cliff". The historic war epic is based on a famous Chinese classic, The Three Kingdoms, which gets its inspiration from ancient Chinese history in the era of three kingdoms (220-280 BC). He apparently has a love scene with Taiwanese model, Lin Chi-ling, who co-star in the movie as his love life.
Other casts of Red Cliff are Takeshi Kaneshiro, Vicki Zhao Wei, Chang Chen, Lin Chi Ling, Zhang Fengyi, Koyuki, Nakamura Shido. Director is John Woo.("Face Off" and "Broken Arrow" fame)
Tony Leung will be walking the red carpet at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival on 17 May, with director John Woo and the other casts. Carina Lau, Tony's beau, is reported to be attending the film festival with him. They are rumoured to be announcing their wedding date on that day.

The first part of "Red Cliff" is expected to premiere on 8 July in Taiwan. The second and last part of the movie is tentatively scheduled for a December release.

Carina Lau and Tony Leung are rumoured to announce their wedding date during Siena Film Festival in May.
Carina Lau had told the media over the weekend that their wedding date is fixed and will announce it in an appropriate occasion.

She also said that the wedding ceremony is a formality and is going ahead mainly for her mum since she had been together with Tony Leung for over 20 years. Carina elaborated she does not want her Mum to have any "regrets" like her Dad, who passed away without witnessing her wedding day.

"The Warlords" Wins Big in Hong Kong 27th Film Awards

Historical epic "The Warlords" dominated the Hong Kong Film Awards on Sunday scooping eight gongs including best film and best actor in martial arts star Jet Li. The film, set in wartime 19th century China and with an all-star cast -- including Hong Kong heartthrob Andy Lau who missed out to Li for best actor -- scooped best director for Peter Chan and best film at the glittering ceremony.

"If I had not made a lot of kung fu films, I could have won the best actor award 20 years ago," Jet Li (see left pic) said in his acceptance speech.

Andy Lau, who was nominated for awards in two separate roles, scooped up the supporting role for his performance in "Protege," which also won best film editing. The movie is a crime thriller about an undercover policeman seduced by the lifestyle of his mafia boss, played by Andy Lau.

"I was told that if I played this role, I would be respected by the entire film industry," he said picking up the best supporting actor award.

However, Andy Lau, who is also a singer, missed out on best original song, which went to the theme from "Love is Not All Around."


The celebrity-mad Hong Kong press pack was out in full force at the red carpet event, as hundreds of screaming fans waved banners and cheered a string of glamorous leading ladies and men as they arrived outside the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.

Controversial Second World War Epic "Lust, Caution" from director Ang Lee won the best Asian Film Award.

The film has faced a tough time from mainland censors for its explicit sex scenes and its subject matter of a government that collaborated with the Japanese occupation. Lee was not in Hong Kong to accept the award.




The best actress award went to Siqin Gaowa for her lead role in the quirky "The Postmodern Life of My Aunt," about a woman in her 60s who falls for an amateur Peking Opera performer, played by megastar Chow Yun-fat.

Prolific director Johnnie To enjoyed a better return than his blank score last year, with his crime flick "Mad Detective" winning best screenplay after drawing plaudits at last year's Venice film festival.

To also produced "Eye in the Sky" which won best new director for Yau Nai-hoi and best performance by a newcomer for actress Kate Tsui.

The professional achievement award was given to much-loved comic actress Lydia Sum, better known as "Fei Fei" (literally meaning "Fat Fat") who died from cancer earlier this year. Her daughter, Xinyi, accepted the awards on her behalf (see pic).

The lifetime achievement award was presented to Hong Kong movie boss Raymond Chow.

Chow's Golden Harvest studios helped produce a string of talent from the former British colony, including action star Jackie Chan and martial arts legend Bruce Lee.

Carina Lau had told the media yesterday she and Tony Leung are getting married soon. They are preparing for the wedding but had not fixed a date. Carina Lau was attending Miu Miu's new shop opening ceremony in Taiwan (see pic below) yesterday when she leaked the news to the media.
When asked if she is pregnant as rumoured earlier, Carina shaked her head and said,"Yes mean yes, No means no.....you need some good planning before having a baby and I am not ready to be a Mom yet".

Carina Lau also pretended to be suprised when asked if her diamond ring was a wedding gift from Tony Leung,"You are really sharp, I shall not elaborate further, you make the guess".

Nevertheless, she was simply in such an upbeat mood that even when digged with pressing question about her one term ex-squeeze, rich Taiwan businessman (see pic above), Guo Tai Ming's new beau, Carina only has praised for her,"Very pretty!".

Carina Lau seems to be trying hard to get pregnant that she even got boyfriend, Tony Leung to go for a body check-up. Hong Kong "Next Magazine" had splashed photos of Tony Leung across pages in the latest issue, showing him going to a Causeway Bay Medical Centre for a body check-up.

The paparazzi managed to track him going out of the medical centre's 9th floor even though Tony Leung was in dark shade and cap. (see pic below)There are only an Obstetrician and Gynaecology(O&G) and pre-marital check-up centre on that floor. (see pic below)
After 45 minutes, Tony Leung, 46 years old, was seen smiling widely to himself after getting out of the medical centre. (See pic below)
Carina Lau, 42 years old, was also reported to drastically change her "bad habits", including quitting smoking completely and stop frequent pubs for the sake of getting pregnant.

Suprisingly for both A-list Hong Kong celebrities, Carina Lau and Tony Leung had started to accept more advertisements at slightly lower rates and setting up food business in Shanghai and Hong Kong to prepare for cost of bringing up a child. Recently, they just opened a restaurant "Kitchen 88" in Shanghai and Tony Leung was reported yesterday spending HK$28.8m to buy a shop in Hong Kong Central setting a food business.
