Farewell to Korean Actress - Choi Jin Shil

Korean actress Choi Jin Shil, who was found dead in her home in Seocho, Seoul, on 2 October, will be buried today. The 40-year-old star hung herself in her bathroom and her body was discovered by her mother a few hours later.

Choi Jin Shil was one of Korea’s most popular actress in the 90s and was making a successful comeback in recent years. She made her acting debut in 1988 and starred in about 30 movies and dramas, including the popular “Wish Upon a Star” in 1997.

Choi married professional baseball player Cho Sung Min (see pic above) in December 2000 but the marriage didn’t last long, and officially ended in 2004 following an ugly and lengthy legal battle in which she won the custody of her two children, 7-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter (see pic below).
Choi Jin Shil made her acting comeback in 2004/2005 with high rating dramas “War of the Roses” and “My Rosy Life”. Her last film was “My Last Scandal” in early 2008, which was also highly rated with a sequel already in planning.

Despite her successful career revival, Choi’s mother told the cops that the actress had been suffering depression since her divorce and was under medication. It’s believe that the recent rumours of her involvement in actor Ahn Jae Hwan’s suicide death had probably triggered her own suicide.

Choi Jin Shil was rumoured to have loaned a large sum to Ahn and pressured him to return the money when his business failed. Choi had denied the rumours, claiming that it was totally baseless and filed a police report; a suspect was arrested a few days ago while the case is still under investigation.

Nicolas Sarkozy's Senior Aide Published "Paris Sex Guide" Book

A senior aide to French President Nicolas Sarkozy and speech-writer for France's foreign minister, has produced a controversial guide to Paris last month which appears to detail where to pick-up women for sex.

Pierre-Louis Colin, the 34-year-old author lists numerous areas of Paris or "quartiers" as they are known locally, notes the best observation posts, bars, supermarkets, parks, museums, metro trains and the best times of day the types of women ogling men can expect to find.

For example, Menilmontant is full of "perfectly shameless cleavages - radiant breasts often uncluttered by a bra".

While residents of Madeleine, a more upmarket area where France's First Lady Carl Bruni-Sarkozy (below pic) has a home, are noted for their "sublime legs".

He also gives many tips such as where to position oneself so as to get an "unbeatable view" up women's skirts as they climb a spiral staircase -- singling out the Café Louis-Philippe in the fourth arrondissement, or district.

He could find no guidebooks to the human wonders of Paris so he decided to produce his own. Colin insisted that the book, titled "Guide to the Pretty Women of Paris" or "Guide des jolies femmes de Paris", is "in the best possible taste".

Paris Hilton, 27-year-old heiress, is using the Internet to cast potential friends for her new reality show, "Paris Hilton's My New BFF.com" The MTV series, which begins production next month, will follow 20 contestants as they live together and vie for the chance to be Hilton's permanent plus-one. More than 85,000 people want to be Paris Hilton's best friend. Thousands of candidates have posted profiles and videos on ParisBFF.com in hopes of winning a spot on the show. Visitors to the site can vote for their favorites, and the top vote-getters will be added to the cast, producers said.

The site has already collected more than 6 million page views since it went live five weeks ago. And Paris is among those checking out the daily posts and will also serve as the show's executive producer .

A spokesman said: “Miss Hilton ruined the wallpaper in the luxury suite. In such a case the client automatically goes on the black list.”

Prince William Lands Helicopter in Kate Middleton's House

Prince William was under fire after he had landed his £10million army helicopter in girlfriend, Kate Middleton's back garden during an official military exercise.

Kate Middleton and her parents are said to have watched in delight as the second in line to the British throne practised a series of take-offs and landings in the paddock of their sprawling detached home in Bucklebury, Berkshire, earlier this month.
Reports said that Prince William, 25, came up with the idea of taking the helicopter to Berkshire, claiming there was a shortage of landing spots in Hampshire where he was based for part of his attachment.

After the plan was approved by his instructors, the prince flew the 16 miles to Kate Middleton's family home where he completed one circuit of the field at the back of her parents' million-pound house and practised landing and taking off in their paddock.

He then piloted the helicopter back to Hampshire for further tuition. The entire operation is estimated to have cost around £30,000.

Details of the two-hour stunt emerged just days after the prince was heavily criticised for using another Chinook to fly himself and his brother Harry to a stag weekend on the Isle of Wight.

The revelations have raised questions about the way in which the prince was allowed to fit his "intensive" four-month training course around his social life. Prince William had apparently taken time off to go on a boozy boys-only surfing weekend in Cornwall and a week's holiday ski-ing in the Swiss alps with his girlfriend.

Vladimir Putin denied marrying Olympic gymnast

Russian President Vladimir Putin denied media reports today he was about to marry Russian Olympic gymnast Alina Kabayeva (see pic below), who is also a member of Russian Parliament. News media and Internet sites had been abuzz with rumours that Mr. Putin had secretly divorced his wife, Lyudmila, and planned to marry the 24-year-old Olympic gymnast.

"In what you said, there is not one word of truth," Mr. Putin said when asked about the reports by a journalist at a news briefing with Italy's Prime Minister-elect Silvio Berlusconi.

"Personally, I think Russian women are the most beautiful and the most talented and the Italians are the only ones who can match them," Putin added to applause from journalists present.

Putin said society had a right to known about the lifestyle of public figures, but warned, "There are limits."

"There is a private life in which no one should interfere -- I've always had a low opinion of those with snotty noses and erotic fantasies who delve into the lives of others."

A Russian newspaper, "The Moskovski Korresondent", set the rumours ablaze by quoting a wedding party planner in St. Petersburg who claimed to be bidding to organize the couple's lavish wedding reception.

It also reported that the couple planned to marry in mid-June, a month after he steps down as Russian president. Mr. Putin has not officially announced any separation from his 50-year-old wife. Some reports say that the Russian president, known for keeping his private life out of the spotlight, is separated from his wife two months ago.

Uma had stopped by the David Letter show when the talk turned to her nipple. Uma Thurman's black dress worn in the Fashion Rocks event had gone sheer, leaving her right breast clearly visible.

David Letterman had apparently shown pictures of Uma's past while she was talking about these photos, like a photo of her at the Nobel ceremony.
She told Dave how it happened, blaming her lack of a "flash test" on the gaffe, and referred to the outfit as a "nipple-icious disaster," saying, "it was humiliating."

Harry Potter Author - JK Rowling in Court with Her Fan

Harry Potter Author, J.K. Rowling strode into a lower Manhattan courthouse early Monday for the start of her lawsuit against one of her fans. She says her copyrights are being violated by Steven Vander Ark, an ardent Harry Potter fan who plans to publish a "Harry Potter" encyclopedia.

The showdown between Rowling and Steven Vander Ark is scheduled to last most of the week in U.S. District Court. She'll spend her breaks in the seclusion of a jury room—away from any die-hard Potter fans.

Rowling brought the lawsuit last year against Vander Ark's publisher, RDR Books, to stop publication of the "Harry Potter Lexicon."

The trial comes eight months after Rowling published her seventh and final book in the series. The books have been published in 64 languages, sold more than 400 million copies and spawned a film franchise that has pulled in $4.5 billion at the worldwide box office.

Rowling is a fan of the Harry Potter Lexicon Web site that Vander Ark runs. But she draws the line when it comes to publishing the book and charging $24.95. She also says it fails to include any of the commentary and discussion that enrich the Web site and calls it "nothing more than a rearrangement" of her own material.

One of her lawyers told the Judge on Friday, that Rowling "feels like her words were stolen." He said the author felt so personally violated that she made her own comparisons among her seven best-selling novels and the lexicon and was ready to testify about the similarities in dozens of instances.

A lawyer for RDR Books, which plans to sell the lexicon, said the publisher will not challenge the claim by Rowling that much of the material in the lexicon infringed her copyrights. But the judge will decide whether the use of the material by the small Michigan publisher was legal because it was used for some greater purpose, such as a scholarly pursuit.

In court papers filed prior to the trial, Rowling said she was "deeply troubled" by the book.

"If RDR's position is accepted, it will undoubtedly have a significant, negative impact on the freedoms enjoyed by genuine fans on the Internet," she said. "Authors everywhere will be forced to protect their creations much more rigorously, which could mean denying well-meaning fans permission to pursue legitimate creative activities."

In court papers, Vander Ark, 50, said he was a teacher and school librarian in Byron Center, Mich., before recently moving to London to begin a career as a writer. He said he joined an adult online discussion group devoted to the Harry Potter books in 1999 before launching his own Web site as a hobby a year later. Since then, neither Rowling nor her publisher had ever complained about anything on it, he said.

In May 2004, he said, Rowling mentioned his Web site on her own, writing, "This is such a great site that I have been known to sneak into an Internet cafe while out writing and check a fact rather than go into a bookshop and buy a copy of Harry Potter (which is embarrassing). A Web site for the dangerously obsessive; my natural home."

The Web site attracts about 1.5 million page views per month and contributions from people all over the world, Vander Ark said. He said he initially declined proposals to convert the Web site into an encyclopedia, in part because he believed until last August that in book form, it would represent a copyright violation.

After Rowling released the final chapter in the Harry Potter series that same month, Vander Ark was contacted by an RDR Books employee, who told him that publication of the lexicon would not violate copyright law, he said. Still, to protect himself, Vander Ark said he insisted that RDR Books include a clause in his contract that the publisher would defend and pay any damages that might result from claims against him.

In his court statement, Vander Ark still sounds like a fan, saying the lexicon "enhances the pleasure of readers of the Potter novels, and deepens their appreciation of Ms. Rowling's achievement."

But the affection no longer seems a shared experience. In court Friday, Rowling's lawyers did not want Vander Ark in the courtroom while Rowling testifies.

Marilyn Monroe Sex Tape Sold by Collector

A long-buried sex movie of Marilyn Monroe recently hit the market and was sold for $1.5 million.

An illicit copy of the steamy, 15 minutes of 16mm film footage in which Marilyn Monroe performs oral sex on an unidentified man - was just sold to a New York businessman, said Keya Morgan, the well-known memorabilia collector who discovered the film and brokered its purchase. The movie is still FBI-classified reel.

The footage appears to have been shot in the 1950s. When it came to light in the mid-'60s, then-FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover had his agents spend two weeks futilely trying to prove that Monroe's sex partner was either John F. Kennedy or Robert F. Kennedy, according to declassified agency documents and interviews, Morgan said.
The silent black-and-white flick shows Monroe on her knees in front of a man whose face is just out of the shot.

He never moves into the shot, indicating that he knew the camera was there, but Monroe never looks at the lens, said Morgan, who saw the footage.

Heather Mills taunted Paul McCartney

Ex-Mrs Paul McCartney, Heather Mills, went on Britain's GMTV Friday for her first appearance since her $50 million divorce settlement last month. According to stories in the Mirror and Daily Mail, Mills taunted Paul McCartney:

"I think he's got three different girlfriends so I wish all the girls the best of luck. Better them than me," she claimed.

McCartney was pictured in Antigua with Nancy Shevell in recent weeks, and UK papers have also linked him in recent months to actress Rosanna Arquette and horsewoman Tanya Larrigan.

How Sarah Larson Met George Clooney

Sarah Larson, former Coctail waitress and Fear Factor winner, has George Clooney, one of the planet's most eligible bachelors, deadly infatuated with her. And now Sarah Larson opened up about how she snagged George Clooney.

Although it's been widely reported that the two met at the June 2007 Ocean's Thirteen premiere at the Palms Casino Resort on Las Vegas, she says they actually met much earlier.

"It was on his birthday three or four years ago at Whiskey at [Las Vegas's] Green Valley Ranch," Larson says, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal. The actor was with a group of pals, including Whiskey Bar owner Rande Gerber (Cindy Crawford's husband). "I was with some friends. We were all dancing, taking pictures, being silly."

At that time, Larson worked as a cocktail server at the venue – but she was dating someone else. Then, when Clooney arrived in Vegas for the Ocean premiere last summer, "he heard I was working at Moon [nightclub]." The actor tracked her down, she says, and "we hung out." A month later, he invited her to go to Italy.

As their one-year anniversary approaches, Clooney and Larson can certainly look back on a very eventful year.

They've survived a motorcycle crash. They've ruled the red carpet at film festivals and the Academy Awards. And, the Review Journal reports, she's even met his parents. Next up for the couple? Clooney, who turns 47 next month, will whisk Larson away for a vacation at his Italian villa.

It's a trip, she said, that could help her burgeoning modeling career. George Clooney is very supportive of her career, she added.

Naomi Campbell banned from flying British Airways

Supermodel Naomi Campbell has been banned from flying with British Airways after she was escorted off a flight last week and arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer, media reports said on Tuesday.

The 37-year-old, released on bail pending an investigation into the incident, said she hoped the row with the airline could be resolved "amicably."

Campbell's spokeswoman in London added: "Naomi has been flying with British Airways for nearly 30 years and has been a good customer. She hopes this can be resolved amicably."

Campbell was on a British Airways flight due to depart for Los Angeles when one of two bags she had checked in went missing, according to her spokeswoman.

It is not the first time Campbell has been in trouble with the law. She spent five days mopping floors as part of a community service sentence in New York last year after throwing a mobile phone at her housekeeper during an argument over a pair of jeans. She was also ordered to attend anger management classes.

Lindsay Lohan's ex-bodyguard has sued the actress, saying she owes him more than $55,000 in pay and expenses for protecting her from fans and paparazzi.

In a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, David Kim said he worked for the "Freaky Friday" star from October 2006 to March 2007. Kim says he obtained VIP tables for Lindsay Lohan at clubs and concerts, tipped valet parkers, provided drivers and kept fans and photographers away from her.

The ex-bodyguard said in the lawsuit he was forced to resign in March 2007 because Lindsay Lohan would not pay him, claiming that she never knew him or employed him.

Lindsay Lohan, 21, spent much of 2007 making headlines for hard partying in Los Angeles and elsewhere. She did two stints in rehab and served two hours in jail after pleading guilty to drunken driving and cocaine possession charges.

In a rare display of public affection, Prince William and girlfriend Kate Middleton cozied up on the dance floor Thursday at a raucous charity event in London. Middleton – in a pink strapless dress with a pleated skirt and a flower at her waist – kissed her boyfriend of five years as the pair boogied.William twirled her around as the pair danced to Little Richard's "Tutti Frutti" and then to Guns N' Roses' "Welcome to the Jungle."
"They looked happy and so in love," says a guest at the burleque themed-bash."
"Kate was smiling so widely and they looked like there was no one else in the world when they were dancing."

Both William and Middleton averted their eyes as a stripper performed. At another point, William blushed (and Kate giggled) as a female singer presented the Prince with a rose – putting it between his teeth. He promptly removed it and stuck it in the ice bucket holding a bottle of vodka. And the couple sang along enthusiastically during a drag queen's Southern-flavored rendition of "Purple Rain."

Prince William and Middleton skipped the afterparty at favorite royal haunt Mahiki.

Despite reports that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are wedded in a New Orleans church on Saturday, it was reported that there was "no wedding."
The family apparently spent a weekend in New Orleans two weeks ago – as Brad Pitt broke ground on his "Make It Right" project to help rebuild the city's Lower Ninth Ward – but they have recently been in the Austin, Texas, area while Pitt films "Tree of Life" with Sean Penn.

Angelina Jolie, who stars in the action film "Wanted", opening in June, is pregnant and due later this year.

US Tabloid Magazine, People reported that Ashley Alexander Dupre has been asked to join the cast "My Fair Lady-style" MTV reality show .

Based on a British show called Ladette to Lady, the show will take a group of 15 hard-partying young women and send them off to a boarding school environment where they’ll learn to become more ladylike.

“She’s the perfect candidate,” the show insider says of Dupre, the 22-year-old at the center of New York's ex-Governor Eliot Spitzer prostitution scandal. The show has not yet heard back from Dupré with any reaction to the offer.
